Constant Tiredness

Persistent fatigue is one of the most common symptoms Dr Kasi Subbiah sees. It often has an underlying hormonal cause that can be identified and treated, restoring your energy and quality of life.

Possible Hormonal Causes of Fatigue

Thyroid Problems

An underactive thyroid is a classic cause of sluggishness and heavy fatigue.

Diabetes

Fluctuating blood sugar levels can lead to significant energy crashes and exhaustion.

Adrenal Insufficiency

When adrenal glands don't produce enough cortisol, it can cause severe tiredness.

Low Testosterone

In men, low testosterone is a frequent and treatable cause of persistent lethargy.

A structured assessment

Persistent tiredness is common and is not automatically caused by a hormone disorder. Assessment reviews sleep, mood, medicines, nutrition, anaemia, infection, heart or lung disease and symptoms suggesting thyroid, adrenal, pituitary, glucose or sex-hormone problems. Tests are selected from the history rather than using a broad unvalidated hormone panel.

When endocrine testing helps

Targeted testing may include blood count, thyroid function, glucose, kidney and liver tests, calcium and other investigations when clinically indicated. Cortisol, pituitary or gonadal testing requires appropriate timing and interpretation. Normal results are useful because they redirect attention to non-endocrine causes.

UK-wide video consultations

History and initial result review can usually take place securely by video, with examination and testing arranged locally when required. Chest pain, severe breathlessness, collapse, new neurological symptoms or rapid deterioration requires urgent assessment.
