Menopause
Menopause is a natural biological stage marking the end of menstrual periods, typically occurring between the ages of 45 and 55. This transition results from declining ovarian hormone production. Dr Kasi Subbiah offers proper hormonal assessment and a full range of treatment options, providing same-day advice wherever possible.
Common symptoms
- Hot flushes and night sweats
- Mood changes, anxiety, or low mood
- Sleep disturbance
- Vaginal dryness and discomfort
- Joint aches and brain fog
Assessment and treatment planning
Menopause is diagnosed after twelve months without periods when no other cause explains the change. Review considers symptoms, bleeding history, contraception, medicines, cardiovascular and bone health, migraine, breast-health factors and whether another endocrine or medical condition could be contributing.
Hormonal and non-hormonal options
Treatment may include lifestyle measures, non-hormonal medicines, local vaginal oestrogen or systemic hormone replacement therapy when suitable. The choice of oestrogen route and whether progestogen is required depends on individual history and whether the uterus is present. New bleeding after menopause requires prompt assessment.
UK-wide video consultations
Many menopause consultations and treatment reviews can take place securely by video. Examination, breast or pelvic assessment, bone-density testing, imaging and urgent care are arranged locally when clinically indicated.
