Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT)
HRT replaces the hormones, primarily oestrogen and progesterone where needed, that decline during perimenopause and menopause, relieving symptoms and offering longer-term health benefits including for bone health. Dr Kasi Subbiah provides individualised, modern HRT prescribing rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.

Types of HRT
- Oestrogen-only HRT for women who have had a hysterectomy
- Combined HRT (oestrogen and progesterone) for women with a uterus
- Different delivery methods including tablets, patches, gels, and sprays
- Local vaginal oestrogen for specific symptoms
What we offer
- thorough review of symptoms, medical and family history
- clear discussion of the most suitable HRT option
- ongoing monitoring and review
Choosing an HRT regimen
The appropriate regimen depends on symptoms, age, time since the final period, whether the uterus is present, bleeding pattern, contraception needs and personal risk factors. Oestrogen may be given through the skin or by mouth; people with a uterus usually need adequate progestogen to protect the endometrium.
Benefits, risks and monitoring
HRT can improve vasomotor, sleep and genitourinary symptoms and can help protect bone in suitable patients. Review considers breast and cardiovascular history, migraine, clot risk, liver disease, blood pressure and unexpected bleeding. Persistent or new bleeding requires appropriate assessment rather than automatic dose escalation.
UK-wide video consultations
HRT assessment and follow-up can often take place securely by video across the UK. Prescribing is not guaranteed at the first appointment. Examination, breast or pelvic assessment, imaging and urgent care are arranged locally when required.
