What hybrid closed loop means
A hybrid closed-loop system links a continuous glucose monitor, insulin pump and algorithm. The system automatically adjusts background insulin, but the user still needs to announce meals, count carbohydrates, respond to alerts and manage exercise, illness and device problems.

Users still require ketone testing, sick-day rules and a backup insulin plan because interrupted delivery can lead to diabetic ketoacidosis.
