Adrenal Disorders
Note: For rare or complex tumour syndromes, Dr Subbiah will guide patients toward the appropriate NHS tertiary referral pathway for specialist multi-disciplinary care.
Specialist adrenal assessment
Adrenal symptoms and incidental scan findings require careful interpretation because hormone results vary with timing, posture, medicines, illness and stress. Assessment may consider cortisol excess or deficiency, aldosterone, renin, adrenal androgens and metanephrines, alongside blood pressure, potassium and imaging characteristics.
Treatment and coordinated care
Management depends on hormone activity, imaging features and the underlying cause. It may involve monitoring, medication, steroid replacement, adrenal surgery or multidisciplinary radiology and oncology review. Patients using replacement steroids need individual sick-day guidance and emergency planning.
UK-wide video consultations
History and most result reviews can take place securely by video. Timed blood or urine tests, dynamic testing and imaging are arranged locally. Collapse, severe vomiting, confusion or suspected adrenal crisis requires emergency care.
